Nandrolone Decanoate

Indications

Nandrolone decanoate is suitable for established osteoporosis, female disseminated breast cancer (palliative treatment), protein deficiency after major surgery or trauma, anemia caused by chronic renal failure, aplastic anemia, cell Anemia and chronic debilitating diseases caused by poison treatment are catabolized during glucocorticoid treatment, the elderly, after surgery and after trauma.

Pharmacology

Nandrolone Decanoate is an injectable anabolic preparation. The pharmacologically active substance is Nandrolone. The decanoate makes the preparation last about three weeks after injection. Nandrolone decanoate is chemically related to male hormones. Compared with testosterone, it improves anabolic activity and reduces androgenic activity. This has been confirmed in animal bioassays and explained by receptor binding studies. The hypoandrogenicity of nandrolone decanoate has been confirmed in clinical use. 

In humans, nandrolone has been shown to have a positive effect on calcium metabolism and increase bone mass in osteoporosis. Nandrolone decanoate can reportedly regress over several months in women with disseminated breast cancer. Also, Nandrolone Decanoate has the effect of saving nitrogen. This effect on protein metabolism is determined through metabolic studies and used for treatment in cases of protein deficiency, such as during debilitating chronic diseases and after major surgery and severe trauma. Under these conditions, nandrolone decanoate can be used as a supportive supplement for specific therapies and dietary measures and parenteral nutrition. 

Androgenic effects (such as virilization) are relatively rare at recommended doses. Nandrolone decanoate lacks the C 17 alpha alkyl group associated with the development of liver dysfunction and cholestasis.

Dosage & Administration

• Established Osteoporosis: 50 mg every 3 weeks
• Disseminated breast cancer in women (palliative therapy): 50 mg every 3 weeks
• Protein deficiency states occurring after major surgery or trauma: 50 mg every 2-3 weeks
• Anemia due to chronic renal failure: 50-200 mg per week
• Aplastic anemia: 50-150 mg per week
• Anemia due to cytotoxic therapy: 200 mg per week
• Chronic debilitating disease in elderly: 100 mg
• Postsurgical and post-traumatic catabolism: 25-50 mg every 3 weeks
• During glucocorticosteroid therapy: 50 mg every 2-3 week

should be administered by deep intramuscular injection. For an optimal therapeutic effect it is necessary to administer adequate amounts of vitamins, minerals and protein in a calorie-rich diet.

Interactions

Due to the nature of the drug, side effects cannot be quickly reversed by stopping the drug. In general, injections can cause local reactions at the injection site. Depending on the dose, frequency and total time of administration of nandrolone decanoate, the following adverse reactions may occur: virilization, hyperlipidemia, increased libido, hypertension, dysphonia, nausea, abnormal liver function, liver purpura, acne, rash cutaneous, itching, hirsutism, premature epiphysis fusion, decreased urine flow, benign prostatic hyperplasia, priapism, penis enlargement, clitoris, amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, decreased sperm count, edema, injection site reaction, decreased high-density lipoproteins, increased hemoglobin.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated for patients who are pregnant, male breast cancer, prostate cancer, allergic to peanuts and soybeans, and allergic to active ingredients or any excipients (including peanut oil).

Pregnancy & Lactation

Because the fetus can become virilized, the drug is contraindicated during pregnancy. Data on the use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation are insufficient to assess the potential harm to the baby or the possible impact on milk production.

Precautions & Warnings

If signs of virilization appear, consider stopping treatment, preferably in consultation with the patient.  

Monitoring of patients with any of the following conditions is recommended: 

Potential or obvious heart failure, kidney dysfunction, migraine hypertension (or a history of these conditions), because anabolic steroids can occasionally cause fluid retention Incomplete body growth, due to high Doses of anabolic steroids can accelerate the closure of the epiphyses of breast cancer. In these patients, hypercalcemia may develop spontaneously or as a result of anabolic steroid therapy. The latter may indicate a positive tumor response to hormone therapy. However, hypercalcemia must be treated appropriately first. Hormone therapy can be restored after normal calcium levels are restored. Hepatic dysfunction The use of anabolic steroids to improve exercise capacity can carry serious health risks for the user. Must be discouraged
