Generics:Fluticasone Propionate 50mcg/spray
Fluticasone Propionate
Fluticasone Propionate is prescribed for the following conditions:
Fluticasone propionate has anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictor properties after topical application to the nasal mucosa. The precise mechanism of these actions is unknown, but it may involve a decrease in the number of mediator cells (basophils, leukocytes, and mast cells) at the epithelial level, the number of eosinophils, sensory nerve sensitivity to mechanical stimuli, secretory response to cholinergic receptor stimulation, and fibroblast activity. Other methods may include capillary dilatation and permeability inhibition, lysosomal membrane stability, and consequent suppression of proteolytic enzyme release.
Adults & children over 12 years: 2 sprays in each nostril once a day preferably in the morning. In some cases 2 sprays into each nostril twice daily, not exceeding 4 sprays.
Children under 12 years (4-11 years): 1 spray in each nostril once a day. The maximum total daily dosage should not exceed 4 sprays. For perennial rhinitis in children, there are insufficient clinical data to recommend its use.
Children below 4 years: The safety and effectiveness of Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray in children below 4 years of age have not been established.
Patients should use Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray at regular intervals as directed since its effectiveness depends on its regular use. Or as directed by the physician.
How to use the Nasal Spray-
Cleaning: The nasal spray should be cleaned at least once a week. The procedures are as follows-
Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray is not recommended for people who are allergic to any of its components.
Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray is less absorbed into the body, resulting in less adverse effects. Nasal spray may cause dryness of the nose and throat, unpleasant taste and odor, and an increase in the frequency of nosebleeds.
In pregnant women, there are no appropriate and well-controlled trials. Fluticasone Propionate should only be taken during pregnancy if the possible benefit outweighs the danger to the baby. Fluticasone Propionate is not known to be excreted in human breast milk. Because other corticosteroids are excreted in human milk, a breastfeeding woman should take caution when using Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray.
Following intranasal use of corticosteroids, including Fluticasone Propionate, rare cases of wheezing, nasal septum perforation, cataracts, glaucoma, and elevated intraocular pressure have been documented. Although the systemic effects of Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray have been limited, With higher dosages, the risk of toxicity rises. As a result, higher-than-recommended Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray dosages should be avoided.
