Generics:Clarithromycin 125/5mg/ml
Clarithromycin works by binding to the donor site on the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and limiting translocation to that site, which inhibits microsomal protein production in sensitive species. Most Gram-positive bacteria including Chlamydia, as well as some Gram-negative bacteria and Mycoplasmas, are susceptible to clarithromycin. In vitro, Clarithromycin has activity comparable to or greater than Erythromycin against most Gram-positive bacteria. Clarithromycin is better tolerated since it is more acid-stable than Erythromycin. Clarithromycin is twice as effective against H. influenzae as Erythromycin. Clarithromycin is resistant to the majority of Gram-negative bacteria.
