Indications of Sartec 10

It's used to treat seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms. It's also used to treat the cutaneous symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria and allergen-induced asthma.

Pharmacology

Cetirizine Hydrochloride is a strong H1 receptor antagonist with no anticholinergic or antiserotonic properties. It has almost minimal drowsy impact and does not elicit behavioral abnormalities at pharmacologically active dose levels. It lowers the migration of inflammatory cells and the production of mediators associated with the late phase of the allergic reaction by inhibiting the histamine-mediated early phase of the allergic reaction.

Cetirizine 10 mg achieves peak plasma concentrations of 257 mcg/L within one hour of dosing (980 mcg/L in children), according to pharmacokinetics. Food has no effect on the amount of absorption, however it can slow it down significantly. Between thirty and sixty minutes following administration of a 10 mg dosage of Cetirizine, peak blood levels of 0.3 micrograms/ml are obtained. It has a plasma half-life of about 11 hours. From one subject to the next, absorption is highly consistent. It has a renal clearance of 30 mL/min and an excretion half-life of nine hours.

Interaction of Sartec 10

Theophylline, Azithromycin, Pseudoephedrine, Ketoconazole, and Erythromycin, as well as other medications, have been determined to have no clinically relevant drug interactions.

Contraindications

Patients with a history of Cetirizine or hydroxyzine hypersensitivity should avoid it.

Side Effects of Sartec 10

Somnolence is one of the most common side effects associated with Cetirizine.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Cetirizine Hydrochloride is classified as a pregnancy category B by the US Food and Drug Administration. However, no suitable and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have been conducted. Because animal reproduction studies do not always predict human response, this medication should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Human milk has been found to contain cetirizine hydrochloride. When Cetirizine Hydrochloride is given to a breastfeeding woman, caution should be observed.
